A Must Watch Docu!

Have you ever seen something on the news that makes you roll your eyes, cringe, and want to set the world on fire only to remember that the exact problem we’re facing? Watching Before the Flood, gave me that exact reaction. Leonardo DiCaprio’s gut-punching documentary on climate change, produced by National Geographic, is a must-watch film.

The inconvenient truth is that human activity literally puts our Earth in shambles.

  • Ice caps are melting at record speed

  • Fossil fuel industries are making absurd profits while we choke on pollution

  • Rising sea levels are wiping out communities

  • The government is too busy to pass a simple carbon tax

On top of that, eating burgers is not just a harmless guilty pleasure-industrial farming is one of the biggest contributors to greenhouse gases.

The problem is massive and seems like we can’t do anything to fix it. Wrong. Before the Flood makes it clear that small changes matter. We can all do something to contribute that doesn’t require you to move off grid.

My key takeaways:

  1. Eat less beef

  2. Stop using single-use plastic

  3. If electricity has a green option, take it

  4. Talk about the issue!!! When the vast majority of the public wants something, it’s harder for politicians to ignore.

Loads of evidence prove a carbon tax would short emissions. The ignorance of this issue is comical. This crisis affects everyone. Get informed so that we can act now.

  1. Oh gosh, Jenna, thanks for posting your response. Your comments are thoughtful and perceptive, and I could not agree more. There are solutions, but ignorance and greed make them impossible. People need to be better informed about the issues and the politicians on both sides bought by the oil industry. Your takeaways above are sensible and pertinent responses. None of us have the opportunity of moving off the grid.
