Zoo!!!
My first trip to the Fort Worth Zoo was awesome. I can now check off feeding a giraffe off of my bucket list! I've never been so close to one before and seriously think I was the only person who didn't know their tongues were a weird blueish purple color. They can also be up to 20 inches long. They are literally built to be lettuce thieves. He was so unfazed by everyone feeding him it was like we were doing him a favor. No gratitude, nothing. He just walked on to the next person who was offering him lettuce.
This saltwater noodle, crocodile, swam around in front of us giving us a quick little glance at him. Since we've seen alligators close up I wanted to know the main differences between alligators and crocodiles. Crocodiles have a V-shaped snout while alligators have the U-shape snout. Crocodiles live in saltwater and alligators prefer freshwater. Hence why we see alligators in Lake Worth. Also, crocodiles leave their bottom teeth out while their mouth is closed. I feel like they are secretly more judgmental than alligators.
Finally, the flamingo mob. I learned that they really are pink due to their diet. It's the shrimp. And they sometimes turn their heads upside down to eat?? Weird. Flamingos can sleep standing on one leg and scientists don't actually know the reason why. I guess they just need to keep one leg handy in case of emergency.
Overall, I had an epic first trip to the Zoo and am glad I got to go before I graduate!
I am glad that you had an "epic" trip to the zoo. Thanks for this reflection.
